Colon Hydrotherapy

"Both Health and Sickness have their roots in the colon." - Norman Walker

Hydrotherapy, often referred to as Colonics, Colonic Irrigation, Colon Therapy, is the safe application of warm, filtered water, through a gravity feed, into the colon, to flush away toxic build up.  It is a restorative, painless procedure which is highly beneficial to maintain one’s overall good health.

Benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy Include:

  • Eliminates stagnant fecal matter such as bacteria, toxins, gas, mucus, parasites and cellular discharges from the body leaving a much wider channel for feces to pass through
  • Compliments chelation therapy for removal of heavy metals,
  • Arterial therapeutic procedures or for general fasting when the removal of toxins is desirable
  • Easy, non-chemical and effective way to prepare for Colonoscopy and Barium Enema
  • Removal of chemical residue left from the procedures of Colonoscopy or Barium Enemas
  • Naturally reduces toxic waste reabsorption into the body
  • Extremely useful in alcohol and drug detoxification: helps eliminate toxins from the blood stream

Who Can Benefit from Colon Hydrotherapy?

Colon therapy is not only for those who are very constipated.  Even if you experience regular bowel movement daily, there can be a lot of build-up in the colon.

The large intestine — known as the colon — is five to six feet long, the height of a person. The length of your digestive system, mouth to anus, averages 30 feet in length. Once your food has been digested and absorbed into your body (if you have a healthy digestive tract) in the small intestine, everything that is waste material drops into the cecum through the ileocecal valve.

The large intestine then begins absorbing liquid and starts to create stool. The longer the waste stays in the colon, the harder and dryer it gets. As the liquid becomes a coating and lines the colon, it creates layer after layer of build-up as it dries out and becomes a stool. This is one reason, as we age, that our colon becomes stretched and enlarged as dried sediments get larger and heavier which is why almost anyone would benefit from Colon Hydrotherapy.  There are however contraindications to consider which will exclude certain clients from colon therapy.

Colon Hydrotherapy should not be recommended for the following conditions:

  • Abdominal hernia, or internal hemorrhaging
  • Any recent abdominal surgery still in process of healing
  • Abnormal distension caused by extreme Vata disorder. The Vata symptom should be treated first by a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner or any other health care provider
  • Acute liver failure, such as liver cancer, or stage four hepatitis
  • Anemia, or a very debilitated, or emaciated person
  • Aneurysm
  • Colon cancer (Or any other cancer only with doctor’s permission and supervision)
  • Cardiac condition (Only with doctor’s prescription, and supervision)
  • Crohn’s disease/ulcerative colitis (You may perform Ayurvedic basti at home; consult your health care provider).
  • Diverticulitis
  • Fissures/fistulas
  • Hemorrhaging
  • Hemorrhoidectomy or active hemorrhoid
  • Lupus
  • Pregnancy
  • Rectal Surgery or Rectal Cancer
  • Renal insufficiencies

Additionally, if you are under medication for any condition, consult your health care provider for any interference with additional water intake and absorption.

The Procedure:

Open System: The open system features disposable water nozzle which is inserted into the rectum.  It is designed for the client to have privacy, as an option, during the session.   A built-in exhaust fan keeps the device and room odor free.

Treatment time:  Sessions are completed within about 45 minutes.

The client receives a comfortable, and very effective Colon Hydrotherapy on our devices, because the person is lying virtually in a reclining position, allowing the water to flow around the entire colon using safe and gentle forces of gravity.  A treatment session takes more or less 45 minutes and uses with up to 20-25 gallons of water.

The water gently hydrates the colon through a flexible rectal nozzle that is ¼” in diameter. There is a one-way check valve between the nozzle and the water tubing to prevent the back flow from the nozzle.  Water temperature is easily controlled with mix valve to maintain temperatures between 95 to 103 degrees Farenheit.   Most Colon Hydrotherapy sessions are performed at about body temperature, however, the operator has the option to cool or warm the water flow to stimulate the bowel.

The exhausted fan device attached to the plumbing allows the elimination of odor without a separate venting system. The entire procedure is virtually odorless, more so than a closed system.

Both our Colon Hydrotherapy devices are extremely easy to clean and sanitize. After each session, a well-trained therapist will clean and disinfect the entire device to insure sanity and cleanliness.  The entire surfaces including all the knobs and pillows are sanitized and dried.   Sanitizing solution is added to the water reservoirs and is drained through the tubing and rinsed. Following the rinsing of the tanks, the device is ready for the next client. The entire cleaning and sanitizing process takes 10 to 15 minutes.

Our water treatment system purifies the water which is further treated with ultra violet light before it fills the reservoir water tank.
